1989 – 2000 Senior Vice President – Devonshire Group
Senior officer of an insurance and reinsurance management company responsible for excess, umbrella and reinsurance portfolios. Directed investigation of Fortune 100 environmental and toxic tort claims. Team leader for accounting, claims and underwriting inspection of records on behalf of issuing carriers and reinsurers. Evaluated new and existing portfolios on behalf of insurance and reinsurance clients.
1986 – 1989 President, Chief Operating Officer – Lancer Claims Services
Responsibilities included the supervision of professional liability specialists with regard to major insurance company errors and omissions exposure. Participated in the Senior Management Committee of the Managing General Agency operation with regard to accounting, claims, loss control and underwriting of new and existing books of business. Acted as liaison with the Agency's insurance and reinsurance clients as well as the individual policyholders.
1983 – 1986 Senior Manager – Home Insurance Company
Responsibilities included the supervision of the claim offices in three Western states for all lines of commercial and personal primary and excess insurance. Management of the California staff counsel operations. Senior member of the Underwriting Committee for new and existing policyholders. Functional responsibilities included participation in claim/loss control evaluations, commercial underwriting decisions, premium reconciliation and managing general agency reviews.
1976 – 1983 Home Office Claims Manager – Armco Insurance Group
Responsibilities included supervision of subsidiary branch offices and staff counsel operations. Member of the Executive Committee responsible for accounting, claims, loss control and underwriting services to agents, brokers and policyholders. Conducted policyholder premise inspections evaluating fire and safety procedures. Further responsibilities included technical management of major casualty and workers' compensation claims and ceded reinsurer reporting.
1972 – 1975 Senior Liability Claims Adjuster – Liberty Mutual Insurance Company
Major account representative for a primary insurer. Responsibilities included loss control evaluations, claim investigations and policyholder liaisons with insured risk managers and insurers' program underwriters.
